Lifestyle | How To Come Up With A Blog Name

Now, this is a topic I definitely have experience with, especially looking back at my past cringe-worthy names, including new (yes, it was just called new) and xxfreshprincezzxx (you can literally smell the prepubescence) before I settled on My Life In A Tab. So here are a few guidelines you may want to follow.

1 | What do you love?
If you're going to be blogging often, a name which makes you smile every time you see it is definitely the way to go. Don't worry about having a 'cool' or 'trendy' name because most trends fade, and you don't want to be left with a name of the past.

2 | What do you blog about?
Finding a name that is relevant to your blog is useful as new visitors can use it to tell what content you post. If you're a fashion blogger, a title with words relevant to clothes, fashion or accessories would be suitable, whereas if you are a lifestyle blogger (like me), there are more options because, let's face it, you can associate anything with life.

3 | Who are you appealing to?
Is your blog focused at tweens or young adults? Or even another demographic? Different names will attract different types of people to your blog. If you're writing to people your own age, pretend to be a new reader to see if you would read your blog.

4 | Is it catchy?
The key to gaining followers is having a catchy name as you don't want new readers to quickly forget the name of your blog if they decide they want to follow you. It also makes giving out your blog name easier as it won't need to be written down and probably become lost.

5 | Is is creative?
You may come up with the perfect name for your blog, but later find out that it's already taken. This is very infuriating, but keep trying new names until you find one you not only like, but is unique to you.

6 | Name change?
Even after following these guidelines, remember that you can change your mind. You don't have to feel obligated to keep a name either because it was your first one and so has sentimental value or because you went through heaven and earth to find it.
